Chris,

All vectors were created from scratch.

They were all created using an idea from Paul at MakeCNC and/or photos I found online, math, trial and error, and a fair amount of research

The process is similar to the methodology used to create all the wooden cars and trucks I've posted over the years. See attached file

Most of them I get very close the first try. The Wankel took 4 tries before it actually worked

I created this ripple machine in 2015

Absolutely great work Dale and thank you for sharing. The components are obviously laser cut and I have a question about how you control the smoke staining? Are they permanent?

If you want to control the smoke and make it removable coat the wood with automotive acrylic lacquer, brush on, two coats, both sides
Lacquer comes in quart available [sometimes] at Walmart in the automotive section or through Home Depot where it comes in a 2-quart package

Smoke can then be wiped off with spray window cleaner like Windex [with ammonia]; take an old t-shirt, or any cotton; I usually spray the cloth laid out flat then wipe the part across the cloth

The Epilog has a little tube that blows air at the cut [30 psi] which also reduces smoke. The bed is a stainless steel honeycomb design which reduces smoke on the underside too

For those that have UGM round tuits they were coated with automotive acrylic lacquer, cut, then wiped across cloth sprayed with Walmart brand window cleaner with ammonia

The finish on the engines is Wood Tools Conditioner DynaGlide, the smoke was not removed, and there is no lacquer applied
The DynaGlide also lubes the engine working parts
DynaGlide is a high pressure wax based spray lube designed for woodworking tools and is used in gun cleaner

Love this stuff Dale! I just bought a UGears business card box to see how to do this kind of work. Guess I should have just jumped in with both feet like you did! Thanks for sharing - I hope to try a couple of designs from http://507movements.com/ just for kicks! Should help sharpen my skills... :D

Nice! I particularly like the rotary display, being a rotorhead myself!
