Shop Cabinet Decoration
Everyone once in a while, a project comes out much better than expected. It doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, I just smile.
Recently Scott55 posted showed a carving of the Tree of Life, and he kindly told me where he found the model (Ebay). After playing with the model a bit, I decided my five-year- old, beat-up MDF cabinet in my shop could use some sprucing up.
So I took off the drawer fronts and the doors, and clamped them to my machine and carved away. After reattaching them to the cabinet, I sealed the MDF with some poly, then lightly sanded, and finally sprayed it with some leftover copper paint I had from another project. Well that looked okay, but then I painted over everything with some dark red cherry gel stain, and wiped it. That’s when I smiled. Maybe you will, also.
I know the sides do not line up so well, and it could still use some touching up, but remember, this is a shop cabinet. My wife suggested moving it int the house, but I said I needed it to hold bits and clamps and wrenches and stuff.

Re: Shop Cabinet Decoration
Hi,
I just searched ebay for this model and wasn't able to find it and Scott did not publish the link.
Is it so confidential?

http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?item=161 ... =150&rt=nc
name for the file was "Tree Culon" and from Cowboy, I know that he'll respond to requests for the Tree alone/Like Angie's and mine with an Oak Leaf border/or as a rectangle border with Basket Weave background.
$20 US
Maybe contact the seller?
HUGE secret!

Re: Shop Cabinet Decoration
Hey Scottp55....and all...thanks.
I decided to clip off the border of oak leaves, well because, that would have been just too fancy for a shop cabinet. The resulting carving is 20 inches diameter. I used a 1/8 inch tapered bullnose cutter to keep the details bit sharper.
