Brewery Sign

Post by davidmillerlowe »

Made this sign for a buddy!

Someday I'll get someone to buck up for sign foam.. This one is made from a ceder glue up.

I have a whole bunch more photos but whenever I add one my browser goes blank or it says my .jpg is invalid..

33 inches tall, about 2.5 inched thick, (5.5 inches counting the hops.).

David, where did you get the hop flower model? I've been looking for something like it.

Thanks!

Hi Chris,

I googled 'stl hop model' and wound up with https://hop.cgtrader.com/ but there were a few available.. Took a bit of fooling to get the multiple hops in the model to give me the two overlapped ones I wound up with.

Thanks for the info... I'm w/o Aspire, so I can't deal with a full 3D model.

WOW....Love it as Chris said, I do love beer related signs. Did you design it or was it from a customers brief?. Also how did you finish it, it looks great, real "man cave" stuff.

regards

Here is the Picasa album with all the photos...

https://picasaweb.google.com/1180226087 ... directlink

The artwork I received was a tiny logo from the from the brewery webpage (top left).. So I got to add some detail.

http://www.cointossbrewing.com/

Pretty much all the paints are Acrylic craft paints except for the penny which is a Krylon hammered copper spray with some sponged on brown and old bronze acrylic paints in an attempt to add a patina.. Looks better in person than the photos..

I was experimenting, since it's an inside sign I used brush-on lacquer for the finish. I've probably violated several 'this-paint-on-that-paint' rules

Great job, I love that you added the hops models on top of the sign for a great relief. They really jump out. Nice.
