Is this Art?

Am having lots of fun with inlaying exotic woods and then shaping the main body taking into account the depth of my inlays.

The first shape (Cool Shape?) is about 14" wide by about 10" tall. It's made of Padauk, East Indian Rosewood, Maple, and Wenge all held together with Brass tubes.

The second shape (Flying Saucer?) is about 8" wide by about 10" tall. It's made mostly of Bubinga with inlays of Cocobola (ring) and Cherry (arrow). Epoxy resin sits in the middle and around the Cherry inlay.

Both pieces brought to a high polish with sanding and wood waxes.

Not only is it art, but it's nicely detailed work and good practice.

Thanks Chris! Good practice for sure...both in using Aspire and my CNC. Also is something to do with all that scrap that too expensive to just toss out. :D

Personally I think your pieces are very artistic and attractive, showcase worthy.
What do they say, "art... like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder" or some non-sense like that :)
Awful nice scrap bin ya got too!
