Love it, i have always wanted to make a Moai. i would love to know where you got your 3d file of it?. You say that it sits on a frame, do you have any construction photos they would be interesting.
Really monolithic looking.

That is gorgeous Henry. It might replace the Aztec calendar as the must-do project.

How did you slice that monster?

This was before I glued it all

Standing you can see the foot

I had a guy come to me who wanted to give his brother it as a 50th birthday gift, he showed me what a competitor had offered him a couple of years ago but they had gone bust, I found the model at grabcad, which is the same as the competitor had used.

I sliced it using 100mm sheets 2000mm x 1000mm, it was 9 pieces i think, i made it all with a 12mm bullnose in one pass, I mounted a 2.5m long aluminium pole in the middle 50mm wide 4mm thick, I then welded pieces that were 250mm long either side, routed that shape in the middle, then glued it all together with an MS polymer glue, the routed a round plate with 51mm hole in the bottom, welded that to the tube having glued it to the bottom of the model. It then sat in a 600m steel tube that was mounted in a concrete foot 500mm high same as is used for road signs.

Not sure if I can post a video link here
