Outdoor Chairs made out of African Sapele and white Cedar

Postby mazzy » Sat Mar 15, 2014 10:46 pm

Other than the slats, all the parts were cut on my cnc. When you have chair parts that are totally exact to a fraction on an inch the project goes smooth. Each chair weighs 50 lbs and has 28 mortise and tenon joints. I used a Leigh FMT Pro jig to do the M&T joints

Yes, very pretty chairs. Ribboned sapele looks a lot like mahogany. I bought a plank of it at a Woodcraft store in Raleigh, NC. Don't know yet what I'll do with it, but I see that it makes very nice chair arms. :D

Mazzy,

Very nice job!, nice contrast with the two woods. What finish did you use for outside? spar varnish?
