Funerary Urn

I don't post here often, because my stuff doesn't compare to most of what everyone else posts, but I was particularly proud of how this project turned out.
A good friend of mine approached me last week to build an urn for her recently deceased mother (cancer sucks). It was a short-turn around project. I spent about 20 hours in the shop this weekend getting it done.
The carving and lettering is done with Aspire, the rest using good old fashion jigs and tools. This was my first go at dovetails, they worked out pretty well, even though I didn't use Aspire for them. (not enough room at the end of my CNC to carve the boards on end).

That's a nice design and came out well. What woods did you use?

The circumstances suck, but your work looks really nice.
Thanks for posting,

The reward of doing something meaningful for a friend is priceless. I think you earned that reward with your work. Good job.

Thank you everyone.
The white wood is Maple (I really like working with Maple), and the brown wood is Walnut. The flowers are carved out of some kind of redish brown wood I had lying around, I don't know what it was.
They picked up the Urn last night, and were very glad of it. Sometimes friendly appreciation is better than dollars.

Truly lovely Gordon and a great first attempt at the dreaded dovetails.

Thank you. I've had the Lee Valley, 'economy' dove tail jig for over a year, sitting there.... staring at me.... finally I managed to wrestle it into submission and make it mine.
