Something is still not right. It has got to be the way I am holding my mouth. I can run thru the roughing pass and all looks well, I then put in the 1/8th inch ball nose re-generate the gcode at the Zed that I have set, and it only finishes the right hand side of the parts, the left hand sides it just passes over, it acts like it thinks the parts are larger than they really are. More investigation is in order.

Hi David,

Question for you...

Are you allowing your machine to proceed all the way through the project? It seems it is not too uncommon for a toolpath to begin machining a part, then move on to another before completion, then return to the previous one to finish it up from where it left off. If you permit the machine to keep running, then all toolpaths should be completed just fine. Please let me know if that is the case with you, or if you are aborting before the machine has a chance to finish.

Thank you in advance for letting me know. I look forward to your feedback.

had some snow here today, with the attendant power outages that come with them if your back in the sticks.
rearanged so it would cut from one longer board, and generated individual roughing and finishing passes to try to avoid power outages... made it, about 3 hours of cutting at 150ipm on the joes rack and pinion
thanks micheal

Fantastic! Great strategy to parcel up the project to work between possible power outages alright! I'll have to remember that - seems like whenever grey clouds gather, we get some "power flicker" in the mid-afternoons. (I often try to schedule machining for early AM or later PM to dodge the power issues.)

Love the project and as I have not picked up anything for my wife and daughter yet, I thought this would be a great gift. Downloaded it and tried to add it to Aspire.... Wham hit me like a ton of bricks. I have not been able to purchase the 3.o upgrade. Is there any way to save this file into Aspire 2.5?

Thanks

Any chance of you posting a Cut 3D file version of the puffy heart? With that, I believe I can make a version of the rest with VCarvePro.

Thanks,

Hi Angie,

Thank you for your question. I'll check with the folks at Vectric next week to see if that's something that's feasible. However, I'm pretty sure this particular project would not come out quite like it's intended if done with VCarvePro.

i have both 2.5 and 3... i can save as a stl and import back into 2.5, looks the same, no vcarving, and you would have to make the confining circle for where you wanted to 3d carve... no problem, just dont know why it's not available in 2.5 also, and if it's permissable to post it in 2.5... sorry
if it's ok, i'll convert it. already cut it for the wife :)

Hi Dan,

> already cut it for the wife

As they say on many forums .. If theres no pictures it didn't happen! Please post some pictures, I'm sure it is extremely motivating for Michael and also encourages Vectric to invest in future projects. These projects require time (and hence money) to produce to these standards and we need to be sure that the effort is justified and appreciated.

> if it's ok, i'll convert it

We have no problem with this as long as it is for a Vectric product, we would have problems with people posting the files for use in other sytems as Vectric have invested the money in producing this project for our customers. The project is designed to be used very easily from start to finish and our brief to Michael was to use Aspire 3.0 as this is the current version. We have no problem with someone converting it for Aspire 2.5, but I hope people understand that it is natural that as we create these projects we will be doing them in the latest versions of the software.

Hi Guys!

I was trying to limit my "surf time" today so I could actually get caught up a little with some work. :)

Sorry, I missed the whole discussion when posted, but sure glad Brian chimed in in my absence (thanks, Brian!). Looks like he explained everything very well!

EDIT: Yes! Photos are always fun to look at, and encouraging too! (Not just for me, but for everyone!)

sawmiller (Dan) has provided a version of this project suitable for
Aspire version 2.5

It is available from here:
http://www.vectric.eu/projects/aspire/ycmh2.5.zip

Dan has asked me to remind anyone wishing to use this version of the project,
to ensure that they alter the feeds and speeds to values suitable for the
machine on which it is cut.
And that if in doubt, an air cut is advisable before making an actual cut.

Many thanks to Dan for providing this.

Thank you Dan
For the 2.5 version of ''ycmh''. I have downloaded it ,the only problem is how do you deselect the component to be able to do profile on each element and to be able to v-carve the lettering.
AS for my self the writing would be in french:''TU AS CAPTURE MON COEUR''
it could also be written in spanish : TU HAS ATRAPADO ME CORAZON
in Italian: HAI RAPITO IL MIO CUORE
With these 4 version of the phrase that will cover most of the Vector community.
and we could do it ourself for the carving.
Can you supply me with the information.Thank you again.Gerry
