Advice

Post by richbutters »

Hi All,

A bit of advice please from all you experts. I am using Aspire and getting along OK

Some of the 3D graphics as supplied with Aspire have sections in them that I want to 'cut out'. For example a 3D Flower, I want to cut out the centre section

Sure I can cut the flower using the 3D Roughing and Finishing functions but the advice I need is how do I create the vectors to cut out and remove the centre of the flower :D :D :D :D

Cheers

Rich

1) Draw closed vector, select the vector and the component, and delete the portion inside the vector or outside the vector using the clear area tools

2) or, draw closed (or open) vectors, select the vector and the component, then use the split tool to create two separate components (delete or turn off the visibility of the component you don't want)

3) You can try the bitmap trace tool to create vectors automatically. Select the component and go into the bitmap trace tool, adjust colors or B&W, preview the vectors and close the menu when happy. Delete unwanted vectors, node edit if necessary, then do step 1 or step 2

Hi Mike,

This is a really daft question but:

How do I draw closed vector, and
Delete the portion inside the vector or outside the vector using the clear area tools

Cheers

Hi Rich,

Go to the Aspire video tutorials and watch the Mantle Assembly tutorial. I think it will describe and demonstrate this pretty well.

I think it’s worth mentioning the “tips & tricks videos” in the support website on the Vectric web page. These are basically 5 minute tutorials and they cover a verity of things. There’s quit a few topics and it only takes a few minutes to look at one. They add to them from time to time so I often go out to see the new ones.

Also Vectric has added some video bookmarks to their regular tutorials so you can jump to a given part of the tutorials without going through the whole tutorial.

These are some great ways to learn the software a little at a time.
