Tried and quickly failed with this one, looks like a photo of a tshirt.

Am trying to squeeze this in before xmas for a friend, but am working around the clock and don't think I'll have time to cook one up from scratch.
Have requested better jpg, don't know if one exists ,, Anyone think this is salvageable ?

If all you want is a set of vectors based on that I'd just draw it by hand and use a suitable font for the lettering. No need to autotrace something as simple as that.

Well obviously I need to brush up on the basics, never have hand drawn anything.

Not a vcarve, will be a simple profile for an edgelit sign - Thanks Mike, that worked just fine. fonts are skewed but should be able to fix/replace without too much trouble. Am heading off to work, hopefully will be able to make it later this evening and complete next couple days [am working on 3 other things as well], will post back when able.

edit: looks like the whole thing is skewed on closer inspection, inflicted with jaggies.
Any way to smooth them out without mass node editing ?

Doug,
It was a very quick example that it could be done..not as an example of top quality work
You just need to practice a bit more and you'll be able to make it yourself.

It's like framing a wall. Just cant be done without crowning studs and nailing them to the plates.

No shortcuts

Very true, just crunched for time in the extreme, rarely ever hint for favors.

Thanks for the help though, better than what I would have come up with

Yep, no majik juju solution for some things, happens every time this year when I am ultra busy, garage is freezing and everyone wants rush orders to beat the xmas deadline ,,, Have loads of pre made stuff but no good when folks want something custom.personalized

mezalick did all the work
just added a couple arcs, circles and lines. Took longer to reply, and I always misspell restaurant (better check  )

don't forget the bar (its only a rectangle  :) ) and you can find a font more similar to original

Happy Holidays :)

The biggest problem with skills like drawing & node editing are that they take time to learn & when you lead a busy life it always gets pushed to the bottom of the list
Auto trace programs have come a long way over the years but there is always something like this that makes them all but useless, guess I was lucky in a way because I really had to learn to do it. When I first started as a signmaker doing cad cut vinyl it was something you really had to learn if you wanted to be able to do any sort of quality work

Just another possibility, does the restaurant have any graphics on a website that would be easier to trace?

Not that I know of, pretty dinky place from what I understand.

Managed to etch it last night and made the base tonight, both in freezing cold. Will hook up LED's tomorrow and post a pic, should look pretty nice.

I had a similar request for a sign. I used a combination of Autotrace and manual work.
