Lots of possibilities.

Re: Twisted Wrought Iron
Of course now that you've done it the challenge for us is to figure out how you did it! I can see from the triangulation that it involved at least one export to STL.

Detective Steve,,
Yes, part of what I do it to challenge others to learn more.
So how was it done ??

Don't know if this is how you done it Michael. But this is how I would do it.mezalick wrote:Detective Steve,,

In Solidworks draw up whatever profile you would like to twist and subsequently bend .
I chose to twist a .25 x .5o rectangle 900 deg. over 24 inches. Then used flex again to bend the piece 360 degrees.
It is up to the modeler to place the bends to their liking as it is positional along the axis in all 3 axes.
I would then create all the unique patterns that I would want and mirror and array both rectangular and circular until it was to my liking.
All said and done I would save my entire model or assembly as and STL to import into VC position in the material and carve away.
Please keep in mind this would be my way of attacking this. It is not the end all way to do it as I am sure many others have differing methods.
Thanks for sharing this as it gets the wheels turning.
