WOW - Michael - WOW

I downloaded but not looked at it yet. I will right after this post.

Thank you - this is a great Christmas gift, from a gifted artist.

Giving the gift of skill is like teaching a man to fish.

Hello Michael,

Thanks for the files. About how long did it take to create the Santa Claus model from the image?

Thanks for the files and the tutorial.
Can all of us lowly guys with Vcarve 8.511 desktop utilize these files or is this for Aspire only?
Sorry for the noob question.
You can download the finished Santa model from the link in Michaels first post and that can be taken into Vcarve 8.5 and cut.

It's the complete finished model.

Hi Mark thanks for the tip but I downloaded everything from the first post but there is no 3d model to download into Vcarve desktop. Unless I am overlooking something obvious.

It's not a download from this site, Michael has a link to his own website where you can purchase the model ready to cut

Sorry I wasn't clear about that. The model is $15 and that's quite a bargain.

Hello,

Face rendering is probably one of the most difficult sculpting challenges.

IMHO, beginners should start with easier topics: the trout video tutorial is very interesting as it demonstrates how to get quickly very satisfactory results with simple subjects.

Basically, there is no 1 click method to build a 3d model from one photo as photography doesn't contain any depth information. Your brain reconstructs depth based on complex analysis, memory, experience, … There is simply no computer algorithm for this.

Michael, thanks for writing this excellent tutorial and sharing your knowledge and talent. Makes the step to face sculpting much easier.
Best regards

Didier

Thank you for creating this Santa file for 3D modeling. I have been trying to figure out how to do a 3D face for a will.
Thank You
Doug
