I know the answer is here within the tutorials but can't seem to find it so thought I would ask the experts.
I have the Woodland mantel from vector art 3D and it is in a dish. I am trying to add an eagle to the middle which I have been able to do...but it is flat and I want it to be concaved the same as the dish. Any suggestions on how to achieve this feat?
thanks

Change the component property to " Add"..
You may need to adjust the overall height of the model as well.

I tried to figure this one out yesterday, but i have a question regarding adding. If you simply add a component over another unsmooth component wont you end up with the back one showing through the front such as in this over exaggerated example. I know with your wisdom you can educate the both of us on this.

Yes, Because you are " Adding" the one component on top of the other..
What I do occasionally is to create a vector around the top component, then select that vector and the bottom component and delete that portion of the bottom component.
It will leave you with a hole in the bottom component.
Using that same vector,
I then will create a new component to the fit that space with the shape and undulations that I think looks best.
Sort of putting together a puzzle...

A word of caution about using this technique.
Sometimes you will end up with small holes between the bottom component and the new component.
I find it best to make the new component slightly larger, ( X & Y ) and then sculpt ( smooth / smudge ) away any undesirable areas..
Simpy add the top component to the new component and check again for any areas that might need to be touched up...
