Flat Flags and Banners
I stumbled upon an alternative way to create flags and banners.
I use the distort tool to manipulate the component into the shape I want.
One note to share,,,you don't have to start with a flat component.
I have use several shaped components to create some interesting banners,,
I fine this method very easy and useful when I'm making my police badge models
I hope the following pictures can explain it..

I'll be doing a banner tonight, I'll give this a whirl. Looks like it will be a very quick, easy way to make all those folds. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Flat Flags and Banners
One tiny add to the directions. Maybe I just missed it. You need to bake the component after the fade and before the distortion, or the lower piece won't tuck under the taller piece at the right height. Had me scratching my head for a minute or two.

Re: Flat Flags and Banners
You're correct Steve.
It must be something i did without thinking..
Without baking the program thinks there is no change in height...
Thanks for pointing that out..

Re: Flat Flags and Banners
Thank You for posting these directions on making a banner. I wouldn't have thought of using the distort tools to do this. Pretty slick. Have a great day.

Works on other models, too. I needed to make a couple of mods to this dove model, the biggest being the wrap-around wing. I cut the wing off the rest of the dove before making the change, so the body wouldn't get distorted, then baked them together again afterward.
