Toolpath info needed (scratches head)

Hi guys im sure i seen a tutorial somewhere that shows you how to set your job so that the router only follows the path of the engraving rather than the whole piece of material

i.e im engraving an ornate ring on a piece of oak, but the travel time is so long as the router wants to follow the exact shape of the material like enraving the tip of the circle but then continuing 2ft past that to the end of the material and then back for the next pass


is there a way for me to set up the job so that it only does the engraving and not the entire material coverage as its so time consuming

In the machine strategy, you have to select which option you want the tool to cut, I believe there are 3 option, model-where it will only cut the model, you can make a vector around the area to cut and I believe the whole board.
