New place to fine cool art
Hello,
I am always on the look out for new art. While I can draw I fine inspiration from others. That a look at "Pinterest" Coloring Therapy and adult coloring. Very good clean line art. Many designs look to be machinable. Also I ran across a book "Coloring & Drawing" by Greg C Grace, at the Grocery store of all places that does a pretty good job at discussing color and male and female designs. Maybe we could use a new blog just for inspiration! (hint to jamesB) ha ha ha

Ya, for sure.... the latest craze for adult colouring books gives rise to a ton of really cool designs that would be great for engraving or vcarving.

Re: New place to fine cool art
ok I have a new link everyone wanting to learn more about design must read over and over about ten times it is really great!
https://archive.org/stream/handbookofor ... 00meyeuoft#page/n15/mode/2up
please take the time to work threw the samples. If you jump in too far you won't see the step by step learning needed. Go ahead and see how cool the book is! But start over at the beginning and work through the chapters.
have fun Joe Paszkiewicz

That is an outstanding find. Some great design ideas there.
Another good book, though it is currently in print, is "The Elements of Style". It has more of an architectural focus, but still very well illustrated.

Ha ha, I did a google search for "The Elements of Style" & got a book all about grammar & writing, had to add the word architectural to the search to find the book you had mentionededwan wrote:That is an outstanding find. Some great design ideas there.

I actually have a copy of that Handbook of Ornament. Got it at Amazon a few years ago.

Excellent Find!
I downloaded that book and captured some of the drawings with the Windows snipping tool. I then used the trace bitmap tool to create vectors which were tooled to V-Carve and previewed. Came out great with little cleaning up. The clarity of the drawings make for good vector creation.
A great resource
Thanks for telling us about that.

If you go to the link above and scroll down the screen there are download options. I typically use PDF format.

Re: New place to fine cool art
Joe, thanks for the link and Fleming, thanks for letting us know it was downloadable.
As Ms Wolffie, I was disappointed not being able to download the book.
You first have to click the topleft "A handbook of ornament" link near the library logo to go to the main page with the download link at the bottom.
