Guitar carved top

Post by piccyman2 »

Hello,

I currently have carve pro 8 and concidering upgrading to Aspire, however I have a problem, using the demo I can't figure out how to create a les paul type caved top, where do i start with such an odd shape.

I have created something that is not really acceptable in vcarve, its loads of lines cutting at slightly lower depts each time, but there is loads of sanding to do.

Any suggestions?

Aspire will definitely do guitar tops. I was watching PBS a while back about a luthier and sure enough, there on his screen was Aspire and his machine was merrily cutting the top in a nice curve. A lot of the luthiers are apparently using CNC to carve tops to close to finish shapes and then tuning using the planes.
