First question, new user: Aspire 4.5

Hi! Aspire is awesome, we use it on a Cobra CR-408.
When I build a 3d model to carve with a ball nose, how steep can the sides be?
I'd rather just go over the cliff and straight down but I remember there needs to be some angle....

The sides can be 90 degrees but depending on the model you might get some rough edges. You can use a 2D profile cut to smooth it off or use the draft feature to add a slight slope on the sides to smooth them out.

That would be determined by the geometry of your bit.
If is straight shank it would be 90 degrees to surface and with a tapered ball nose the taper degree would be the determining factor.

Thanks to you both. I figured, and yeah I can outline the part and cut vertical edges straight down with an end mill.
The deciding constraint is the bit shape.
At work we have an eight bit tool changer, at home I have a shopbot built in 1863, it's a wind up.
