from logo to machineable usefull file

the logo was downloaded and re-drawn ,the hand plane came from a corel clip art
The saw blade was drawn
It was a good example of how a logo can be made into a machine type file (*.dxf) and
it becomes more useable right from a 8ftx8ft sign to a business card 3.5x2.0 inches maple veneer

Nice work. You're correct... a vector version is much more usable.

Not sure I agree that a vector is more usable, certainly more convenient when it comes to scaling though. Pity designers don't take all the possible uses for a logo into account when originally designing them.
Problem with converting to a vector is that it is great for solid colours but a lot of logo's these days aren't solid colour with gradients & special effects being used more & more.

For anything printed (other than one colour invoices) I would want to maintain the gradients & special effects so in this case I wouldn't want the cards printed from the vector file because of the hand plane.

Vector files can include gradients and effects. Attached is an image created directly from my business card created in Adobe Illustrator, which can actually be imported into Aspire. Of course the color and effect info is lost on import, as Aspire only wants vectors to cut. However the .ai file is what I take to the printer to order my cards.

As you can see, it includes gradients and drop shadows, etc.

Ron, it's not a true vector file if it contains bitmap data. I don't own aspire & use VCP which doesn't like combined files at all. If you can get VCP to accept it then you still have to convert the bitmap data to vectors, would have to do that in any program if wanting to cut, ok for printing yes.
One of the problems people had or have with web sites that sell graphics is that the site would have files listed as vector format but they contained a lot of bitmap data so couldn't be cut on a plotter without quite a bit of work.
