v-carve tool pathing

Post by oldlogtrucker »

my v-carve tool path is too deep and bold for the text I am trying to carve. Can anyone explain to me how to set the depth of v-carve for a .50 90degree when carving .5 inch lettering? and then again when doing 1 inch lettering. maybe if I see both I will be able to understand the difference.
Thanks
Kathy

The V depth is set by the width of the vector outline and the shape of the cutter. if you want to limit that depth then set a 'Flat Depth' on the V-carve toolpath dialog. The final path will flat-bottom out at that Z value. If you want to use a tool other than the v-bit for the flat bottom, select it as a "Use Flat Area Clearance Tool".
