Hi all new member from Perth Western Australia here, can anyone advise why when using quick engrave and selecting fill either offset or hatch the outside of the letter is also cut just the same as it would be if outline was selected. I am ending up with very fat lettering. I can workaround by using pocketing but it seems that quick engraving should do just that.
I am using Aspire 3.5 on windows 7 on a Machine we built here controlled by Mach 3

Re: Engraving Text Issues
Quick engrave is really designed for a non-rotating diamond tipped tool not for a rotating engraving tool.

I've used it with fine results using a vbit. The fill option is just that - a fill. It is not intended to replace the outline, simply fill it in.

I agree Ron, but shouldn't it only fill inside the text not on the line?, I'm thinking it should offset by 1/2 of tip diameter + allowance for angle of cutter?ssflyer wrote:I've used it with fine results using a vbit. I am using a 60 degree conical cutter with a flat tip diameter of .75mm

Re: Engraving Text Issues
The tip follows a zig-zag path. It never retracts when it moves to the next hash line but instead rides along the outside vector.
