Antique sign source

Post by Joe Crumley »

Shorpy photo's are a gold mine of high resolution historic images. The sharpness comes from photo's taken with glass plate camera's and the sharpness rivals the best digital cameras of today.

This pix makes me want to build a sample dentist sign for my shop. It would be a good excuse to do some gilding and practice 3D. Hope you guys enjoy the photo's as much as I do.

Dr. White has a patent on his "Anchor Suction Choppers" so be for-warned.

Wow! Thank you for providing that link. The quality/detail of some of those old photos is stunning. I can see myself spending a lot of time browsing there!

Now I'm on the hunt for even more creative dental signage. I like this one even better. I'm calling it "Instant Relief". This head doesn't look all that difficult to make but I'd make it as a seperate piece. Still looking.

You can also subscribe to Shorpy updates which sends a daily email with preview images. I've collected hundreds of the photos that I use as screen saver rotating photos.
