Aspire and Cabinetmaking part 2

Post by cabnet636 »

ryan patterson of http://www.cabinetpartspro.com/ has created a nesting program that allows me to define my door sizes then nest and produces a parametric .dxf that when imported into Aspire allows me to add details and carvings. thanks to ryan this makes mdf door production to a small shop possible with out spending BIG bucks on software and IT guys.

Jim,
Is that in his cabinet parts pro or is it something else he offers?
Couldn't you just make your door sizes in aspire and nest them or am I missing what your doing?

Thanks,
Nick

aspire does not do parametric, in other words i had to make each door and its parameters seperatly each time i had job, there may have been a way to do this but it was beyond me so i asked ryan to do this and it is excellent, today i spent more time studying how to set waste and other settings and got to 88 % waste which is acceptable to me

this is a program he has written in addition to cabinetparts pro, which he recently upgraded and it is excellent!

jim

ps, i also spent the day drilling out the rear axle tension bolt that i broke off in my swing arm on my crx450 i figured you can relate to that!!

i recieved the dxf of the whiteside machine company tools for mdf doors from the company today

i have seperated the profile to create form tools for those who would like to have them.

they are in actual scale so do not change them and they will match bits perfect

the tools are shown on page 25 of whiteside's catalog

Jim;
thanks
I am working on setting up files for some picture frames. I want to try to layer up some deep carved frames made of MDF and wood. These profiles just saved me a couple of hours of work.
Bob
Even though you are on the right track - you will get run over if you just sit there.

Jim,
What do you use to prime your mdf with before paint? I use a good bit of mdf for fixtures and glue size it before paint on all cut edges and always wonder if there is a better way.
Also how do you have your aspire windows set up? I can't seem to get my windows to look like that??? :?

thanks,
Nick

i close the toolpath and drawinf tabs using the pins at the top of each this opens up the screen then zoom in and do a screen capture, (i use picassa there are others)

we use a nanochem vinyl sealer primer, when you come to sc i will see if george from spray one systems will stop by he is the best coatings rep i know!! one coat on rawcut mdf second on all surfaces then sand, powders well

i dont know if this helps or not. but at the end of the message about file not found, there was a part in blue.
i clicked on it. and got into there web site. then opened other products. and found a nester program. all i need is a key.
i think that may work if they sent you a key.

Thank you Rasputin, I didn't see that one.
However, that only leads to the CPP not the nesting one.
