My cutting depth keeps changing
My cutting depth keeps changing
Could someone take a look at my file and help me figure out why my cutting depth keeps changing. I can set it to .25 and it changes to double that. I'm a beginner and we are on a tight timeframe with a particular job. It has woodgrain texture to appear to be sandblasted with raised letters to the inside of that and a raised border around the outside. The file that i have attached isnt the actual job, but it has the same components.
Also the roughing profile keeps eating away all around the letter. I need my letterstroke to stay the same thickness.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Jenny

what type of machine do you have, have you run a z test,, set a filr to cause the z to run in the air (3d) and see if it holds tollerance, could be step loss

What jim said...plus:
What type of toolpath are you generating (V-Carve, Pocket, Texture etc) ?
Its probably something straightforward.
Is the depth increase random or happening in the same place every time?
Did you check the G-Code file to see if there's an increased depth?
Did you zip the file before trying to upload?
Do a google search for 'Free File Sharing' and there should be somewhere you can upload it to.

Re: My cutting depth keeps changing
I group the inside of the border along with the woodgrain bitmap(made into a component) along with the copy inside also.....then i do a roughing and finish profile with my depth set at .25. (It eats away some of my copy.)
I ungroup those items and select the copy only to do a normal profile toolpath around the outside with the depth set at .125 just for cleanup purposes.
I also do this to the inside of the border.
Then finally I do a profile toolpath for the outside cut around piece set at 1.01 for 1" material.

Where are you setting the height for the toolpaths? The DOC for a relief toolpath is set automatically by the software dependant upon the model.....
