Feature Request *Re-arranging Layers*

Post by Greasetattoo »

Hey All,

I have a feature request...

The layers box.
There should be a way to re-arrange my layers.

Is there anyway?

What do you mean by "re-arrange"?
Moving the layers around in the layer control panel.

For instance if I had a layer named TOP.

And some other layers:
(see my example below, these are the layers)

Magnets
Wheels
Scoop
Top

Now if I wanted to move the Top layer to the top of the other layers.
Kinda like you can do with the components.
Like this..

Top
Magnets
Wheels
Scoop

CorelDraw has this option.
You just pick the layer and move it to the top of the other layers.

Hope I made sense...

this is a feature on a cabinet nesting program which serves to set the order of tool pathing, the purpose is to move final cut out to last, other wise what is the need?

Yeah, kinda like you can move your toolpaths.

I just like to be organized when I do my work.
As, I usually have parts for the front of my project on separate layers.
And parts for the back on separate layers.

As I am designing my parts, etc.
I make layers as I go.
Sometimes add to the front, sometime add to the back

Now, I have many layers and would like to re-arrange them.
All the front layers to the top, and all the back layers to the bottom.
If you understand what I mean...

You can rename them. Toggle the Layer Control Dialog, Highlight the layer you want to change, and then change the name or number etc. to the new name in the Name text box and click apply.
May not be exactly what you had in mind, but will let you change the layer name. Does not re-organize them though, except for listing them in the opposite order etc.
