Minor feature request - shouldn't be too hard.
Currently, when in the 3D view, you can zoom in with the mouse wheel, but only to the point in the middle of the screen.
If you want to zoom in on, say an edge or corner detail, then you pan (drag) the view until that section shows up.
Would it be possible to add a shortcut to zoom directly to where the mouse cursor is and then center on that point?
I think the easiest way would be to keep the existing zoom as the default, but if [shift] or [ctrl] or [alt] was held while zooming in or out, then the mouse position becomes the zoom point.
True, it's a minor point, but I'm working on a large sign and need to quickly zoom in on very small details. This would certainly speed things along.
Just my 2 cents!

If people give a penny for your thoughts...
and you throw in your two cents worth...
What happens to the other penny??

After buying the Aspire upgrade, that was the last 2 cents I had anyway

Re: FEATURE REQUEST: Zoom to Mouse Location
I also enjoy using the wheel to zoom.
But on my PC hooked to the Bot, I don't have wheel mouse. (3 buttons, but no wheel)
I have found by right clicking and moving mouse up and down while zoom in and out.
If you left mouse click and move your mouse in any direction, it'll rotate your 3D view.
I'm finding I like this better than the wheel.
But there are times when its more effort to zoom in on a corner or edge.
I wonder when Brian will come up with a Wireless Headband so I can get rid of the mouse altogther??
What do you think Guys??

Re: FEATURE REQUEST: Zoom to Mouse Location
Annoyingly the 2D and 3D windows seem to behave differently. The 2D one zooms to the cursor while the 3D one zooms from the current view.
I'd prefer the 2D behaviour on both personally.

Adrian,
How about a compromise?
Default BOTH windows to the 2D zoom method (center of screen) and if you hold down, say, [Shift] then it zooms to or from the cursor location?
Might also be a nice addition to VCarve as well
Darned, there goes my other 2 cents

Yep, that would work. I do a lot of my vector stuff in Xara and that uses the Ctrl key held down to switch between it's two scrolling styles and either can be set to be the default.HoustonFirefox wrote: Default BOTH windows to the 2D zoom method (center of screen) and if you hold down, say, [Shift] then it zooms to or from the cursor location?

Re: FEATURE REQUEST: Zoom to Mouse Location
Did this behavior ever get implemented (making the 2d & 3d ZOOM by mouse wheel consistent)? If so, perhaps there's a setting to get this behavior. If not, here's another vote for consistency between 2D & 3D views...
