I am using the trial version of aspire and have not been able to find any changes between v carve pro and aspire in terms of converting pictures to 3d. I do not have any major experience with Vectric products so I'm sure I'm missing alot. Are there more powerful tools that will help me modify the picture to get better results? Like I said I'm totally new to this software. I have looked as some of the tutorials but they do not seem to answer my questions. I suppose I could wait until my DVD arrives, but I was hoping to learn a bit before that.

Re: JPG to 3d
Hi Erik,
Import and select the Image > click the tool Create a Component from selected Bitmap
which is 3rd icon along the bottom row.
This creates a component that can then be modified - scaled, distorted, height, rotation etc.Tony

If I understand you right you are looking for the "create component from selected bitmap" option.

Re: JPG to 3d
how do you turn it into a negative if I wanted? Would I have to do that in another program?
Re: JPG to 3d
Open the component Manager and select Subtract
For reference there is a tutorial explaining how to work with textures from images on the DVD

Thanks I know there is going to be a little bit of a learning curve but so far (cross my fingers), just poking around has yielded some good results.
