Depth on 3D Object

Post by chris77 »

I am new to 3D. I am trying to cut this bell out and it is going too deep on the preview. I did not put in a finishing toolpath since the roughing toolpath is so deep. I tried changing the depth in the Material Setup page in the "Model Position In Material" but had no luck. Since I am new to this I do not know what to try next. I tried attaching the file but it is too big. If there is another way I can send it let me know. Thanks for the help!

The depth of cut is going to be dictated by the z height of the model.
Use the "Scale Model Z Height" button to view and adjust the overall height.
Note - it will flatten the model and possibly suffer a loss of detail if it is a lot of change.

Thanks for the help but I should have given more information because now it is not deep enough. The material is 3" thick and I am wanting to make the bell 2-1/2" thick. I changed the Model Z Height to 1-1/4" and checked the box "Scale Both Sides" since it will be flipped over and machined on the other side. I changed the "Model Position in Material" to 1/4" Gap Above Model. That is where I am at now. Thanks.
