Flakey program

Post by Jamesdee1046 »

Howdy . . . . . . . . . I have had a problem with my Vectric Aspire program ever sense I updated the application to release 5.156. (I'm using 1.157 now and still have the same problem.

When I try to make a circle/square/oblong using the tools, they don't always work properly. They seem to stop making the size I want at any time. Copying and pasting works but when I try to move the copied item it doesn't always go where I want it to go. It stops before the spot I want to put it. Multiple pasting is also not reliable as sometimes it will stop pasting.

Before 1.516 everything worked great.

Am I the only one with this problem?? Any suggestions??

Thank you in advance.

I’m going to guess, yes, you’re the only one with that problem.

:D

At least I’ve not heard about that from anyone else. I don’t recognize any of the three different version numbers you’ve stated, either.

Just to clarify, are you using Aspire 5.156 or 9.517 or...? I don't believe Aspire was ever released under 1.157. I believe it released at V1.5
Please validate what version of the software you are running.
Also, what version of Windows are you running?

At any rate, please see if the software is looking for a graphics tablet.
With a project open go to Edit/Options
Scroll towards the bottom and look at the setting for "Use graphics tablet"

How, exactly are you using the drawing tools? Are you using your mouse to create the object, or are you entering numerical values in the dialog boxes?
You might want to check if an updated driver is available for your mouse.

When you say they don't work properly. What do they do instead?
Multiple pasting is also not reliable as sometimes it will stop pasting.
Is the system behaving normally otherwise, or does it seem slow and time-delayed? I had a Dell tower with a hardware problem that would occasionally move the mouse slowly only after a long delay.

Might be “snapping to grid” (or smart snapping or geometry snapping) when you move items and they “stop” before getting to the place you want.

In any case, I don’t think the software is “flakey”.

Sorry . . . . . . I'm using 5.157 but the problem started with 5.156

I use a mouse for all my layouts.

Snap to grid is not on. But under Snap Options it was turned on. (I turned it off. But made no difference)

Tablet was not selected.

I've had problems like this when my mouse is starting to get flakey. I hold the left button to do an operation and things start/stop where I had not intended. Put a new mouse on and everything worked great. Mice do wear out after awhile. I replace mine once every couple of years.

This sounded like a mouse problem to me, too.

Thanks for getting back to us and letting us know what the solution was.

Gotta like people who do that!
