Cannot get machine to start at Zero

Postby Hodge4511@gmail.com » Mon Feb 04, 2019 12:45 am

I upgraded from Vectric Desktop 9.5 to Aspire 9.5. Under Desktop I had no problems with machine running. After upgrade, I have tried to set zero via the controller and tried using a plate. Once I start the run, the router comes up and then it wants to go to the near far left.

Hi,

Take a look at your Job XY datum position in the software. If it’s in the lower left corner, then it sounds like your machine is obeying what it’s being told.

If you want the XY datum position elsewhere, then you can place it wherever you want/need.

I am using the CNCShark-USB_Arcs_inch.pp. I will check the X Y Axis. I just checked a file and that may be the issue. It is reading the X Y axis as a negative.

OMG, I am such an dummy. A clue from mtylerfl made me realize I had the XY Datum Position set as center, but I set the router up at lower left. No wonder it tried to go to the lower left, because it was doing what it was told. This was a costly mistake. I broke a bit. Thanks so much for the lesson.

Glad you got it sorted - and you’re not a dummy. Plenty of us have done similar things like this too. Welcome to the club!

There are a lot of parameters and settings that need to be correct before pushing the go button. It will all become second nature in time but, I always check and re-check my settings before running the machine. And I always have my hand on the Estop when I hit start, just in case anything goes other than expected.
You will get it, keep learning, and remember what you learn. I always remember the lessons learned.

Well Hodge, if you are a dummy, then some of us are Mega Dummies!

You should be around my place when I am switching between fixtures, router and laser. A regular 3 ring circus!
