dxf files for a laser

Post by scottart »

I purchased a small Laser that I want to use the create logo's on the back of my CNC carvings.

looks like I need to great DXF files and I am hoping I can design them in Aspire. Is it possible to do that?

Yes, you can export any vectors that you create or load into Aspire as a DXF by selecting them and using the Export option on the File menu.

A lot of lasers can be driven directly from Aspire though.

how does Aspire drive the laser?

I use Mach as the controller for my CNC.

this little laser comes with control software... that is not great, so an alternate would be great.

Same way as the CNC, code is loaded into the control software. If it's really basic and has no way of loading code at all then you are probably stuck with the DXF route.

I have laser machine tool control software on my laser.

I use Aspire to do the design work - then DXF - import to laser machine tool control software and that's it.

Finish the laser program in RWworks

Try exporting as a *.AI file Leo -I think Aspire gives a better out put as an AI than a DXF

I will try as AI, but have not had any difficulty with DXF
