Kerning

Post by Stephen50 »

Two questions pertaining to subject matter.
First: I entered the percentage sign into text I was typing, when I started adjusting the spacing I was unable to adjust the percentage sign. I could adjust the spacing before and after the percent sign however, unable to adjust the percent symbol.

Second: A word collapsing on itself. I have a completed sentence start to adjust spacing between the words, at a certain point a word normally at the end of a sentence I get a letter laying on top of another letter. I'm at a loss as for the reason why this is occurring.

Can you upload the file(s)? Might be helpful.

Are the problems occurring with an “unusual” font?

Hi Steve,

Are you still having problems?

If so, is your text in a “normal” straight line, or is it wrapped or following a vector or ???

Again, a file example would help us help you. (If you still need help, that is.)

As Michael say the file or just the part of the file that is causing the problem, the other thing that Michael didn't ask is are you using the text tool or the text within a vector box tool

Font used: New Times Roman
Couple of lines straight text nothing else out of the ordinary, no curves, not following a vector
Utilizing text tool only no text within a vector box
Next time this event occurs I'll snag a picture

Are you talking about moving the circles nearer-farther from the diagonal line?
%
The Vectric kerning only adjusts spaces between the characters, not the character itself.

Good spot. I missed that in the original question. To adjust that spacing you would need to convert text to curves so the three parts of the percent symbol would then be treated as individual shapes.

Utilizing Aspire 8.51
An entire sentence is highlighted when kerning, when the percentage sign is converted text to curves will any impact occur pertaining to the remainder of the sentence?

You can't convert an individual character to curves. It's the whole sentence or nothing.

Or just convert the % to curves all by itself (then make whatever adjustments you want) and leave space in your other text for it to be inserted.
