I'm making a Cutting board with an inlaid orange helmet. I separated the helmet, copied it and inlaid it with osage orange. It's a month later and I still haven't figured out how to make the facemask cut out correctly. I need to do the facemask out of walnut. Can one of you wizards please help me?
Thanks.

Sometimes, if the piece is to small or narrow to successfully machine out of wood, I pocket the lines (face mask here) and fill with food safe colored-epoxy.

I could do epoxy, that's a great idea. But I already inlaid the osage orange and I know I can do the walnut, I just can't seem to get all the brown parts connected in one cut. The vectors want to cross. I'd just like to get all the brown parts on a layer to cut without confusing the computer. Thanks for the epoxy idea.

I guess not. I haven't done many inlays this complicated. I'm trying to trim it down to the facemask only and not have extra material in the left earpiece area. Here's the message I get when I try to do a male inlay. (Sorry it took so long, I couldn't remember how to do a screenshot. Getting old is not for sissies.

I found a graphic and worked with it. Not sure if this is what you're wanting to do.

It's telling you that the vectors you have selected are open, grouped vectors rather than closed vectors. You need to ungroup the vectors and then close them as needed. A grouped vector is a different thing from a closed vector but people often mix them up.fogbow wrote:I guess not. I haven't done many inlays this complicated.
