Dividing a circle in segments

Post by Soapyjoe »

Hi Everybody,

Just a very general question .... Is there a quick way of dividing a circle into segments ?
I can do this by dividing 360 by the number of segments required.... then rather laboriously drawing them out .... but do feel there must be a better method.
Your help would be appreciated.

I do this by drawing my circle to size then draw a .062 inch circle and use the copy along vector.

Draw one vector from the center, and do a circular copy.

Use the polygon tool. Set the number of sides to how many segments you want. Start it out at the center of your circle, then size it so it touches the circle. Where is touches the circle you can mark or trim or whatever.

I do it the same way as ger21, draw one vector from the middle of the circle to the edge of the circle & then use the circular array tool to divide it into the required number of segments

Thanks to everybody who greatly assisted me with this little problem.
I have been using this programme for several years now and never before had a need for "circular copy"..... worked wonderfully.
I needed to divide a circle into 37 segments
The forum is a great asset
Thanks once again

I've been using line and circular copy like others but I'm wondering if a star with the same diameter would work too.

Hi,

I am using the circular copy of the line,

What I am actually making is a roulette wheel

If I'm not mistaken this one requires 38 segments, not 37.

BTW, using the star feature is a nice trick.
Best regards

Hi,You are quite correct for an American Roulette wheel.... they give the punters a lower chance of winning by having two Zeros
However, I am modelling a European type wheel with only one zero.
Cheers
