The only thing that I got out of this was the “text” mobility all else, a big disappointment for me. Not even an additional clip art piece. I feel that this large Rotary content should have been used, for a newer version (10.0) instead I got a free upgrade to bupkis.
Somebody gives you something for free and you complain about it?

Then you go on to call out somebody else as selfish?

For so many users this is a great upgrade - but to you - even for free - its a disappointment!

WOW - that is just beyond my comprehension. SAD.

To me - Vectric is about the BEST company on the planet.

I am with Adrian - can't please everyone.

I hope Desert_Woodworker doesn’t feel ganged up on. Of course we don’t want anyone to feel badly for expressing their opinion (even when we may not agree).

No hard feelings, DW. I’m sure you enjoy the software as much as the rest of us.

So when you paid for the upgrade to 10, you'd have been even more disappointed.
Now you are adding my feelings to something that has not happened yet?

Thats a good point Michael, one of the things that I like about this forum is that it is a friendly place to be, everyone in entitled to their own opinion & I am sure there will be others like DW who feel the same way, they just haven't said so.

I couldn't agree more about Vectric being a terrific company.

I've enjoyed their upgrades since 2.0 and have never missed an upgrade.
Besides their upgrades there have been many free projects and many free cliparts.

We even get many free items from users on the forum.

I also like the new text editing features a lot and hopefully some day I may use the rotary which I don't have yet.

I would also like to plug "Design and Make" for all the new clipart and hacks that are available. I couldn't begin to
make a 3D clipart for $25 that they charge and what diversity they have.

Thank you Vectric!!
Mark

We all have opinions and just because one disagrees doesn't make him/her an enemy. I certainly would prefer someone disagreeing with me than a "wuss" trying to smooth everything over.

No clipart Bob, I could be wrong ( often am  ) but I am sure I read somewhere that it is not Vectrics policy to include clipart with any of the minor .5 updates

I skipped the v9 upgrade as didn't see much I needed and decided to wait. The text changes alone in 9.5 were enough to make me upgrade as text is a big part of my work. Want to use the rotary when I get time, but text features were worth the upgrade cost in my case.

I'm reminded of a conversation overheard on a bus.

"This sucks. I pay the same price for a bus pass in February as I do any other month and I only get 28 days use"

to which I interjected:

"You pay $89 for 28 days every month and for 11 months you get 2 or 3 days free".

They swore at me.

Do I use clipart? No.
Do I use rotary? No.
Will I use image editing? No.

Do I value the unseen bug-fixes and tweaks? Yes---most definitely.

In this day and age the norm for anything "free" is mandatory sign-up, mandatory built-in ads, mandatory forced update even when you don't want it, etc.. The free 9.5 update isn't a mandatory update. The 9.5 update doesn't have built-in ads. The 9.5 update didn't overwrite all previous versions of Aspire.. Considering all of that, and adding that for me it does have a few new features I appreciate and will use, I declare this update to be exceptional. Thank you again Vectric!

Not sure if "Free" would be the right word, as to take advantage of it you would have already had to pony up $100's if not $1,000's. "Free" implies anyone can use it, and that is not the case.

Props to Vectric nonetheless for a minor upgrade to an existing product for V9 users, tough to see how anyone can complain about that. OP, if there are improvements and features you'd like to see in the next version, you are free to suggest. In fact, a suggestion sub forum for vectric products might not be a bad idea.

Free is free, if you have to pay to get it, it ain't free - Its a bonus.
