No Automatic Vector Selection in Quick Engrave Toolpath?

Hey all,

This might already be addressed but I couldn't find it in a quick search.

I run with a lot of crv3d files that I use sort of as "templates" for the bulk of my work. Within these files, I leverage layers and the "Vector Selection" set to Automatic and configured to pick and choose vectors from specific layers. This works for all my toolpaths except Quick Engrave - In Aspire 9.5, I don't have a "Selector ..." button in that toolpath like all the others with "advanced" options turned on (Quick Engrave doesn't have that checkbox, either).

Is this a bug? Shouldn't I be able to access automatic vector selection from this toolpath? Maybe I'm missing something... any ideas?

Hmm. You may have spotted something that I have certainly missed (maybe all of us have missed)! I KNOW the "Selector" button used to be present on older versions of Aspire!

I'm not sure when it "disappeared". I opened version 8.5 and it's not there either. But I know it was present in earlier versions (just not sure how far back).

Yes, by all means alert Vectric to this.

EDIT: I still have Aspire 3.504 on one of my computers, so I set up an engraving toolpath in it. Sure enough, the Vector Selection "Selector" button IS present for the Quick Engrave toolpath.

It's never been there on the Quick Engrave toolpath from what I can remember. It's an odd toolpath as it's the only one that lets you save the toolpath directly from it as well.

I should have posted a screenshot! I’m at the airport waiting to pick up my wife, then immediately go to church to play keyboards after I drop my wife off at home. I won’t get home myself until about 9pm tonight.

However, I’ll try to remember to start up my old Aspire again, take the screenshot and post it here!

PS - Yes, it also has the Save Toolpath option from within the Toolpath window, in addition to the Vector Selection/Selector button.

Maybe it was removed in later versions for a good reason. I don’t know. One thing is for sure - it apparently took years for anyone (Jason) to notice it is now absent!

I'm still using Aspire 4.5 and it's clearly there.
I also have it in Vcarve Pro 6.
Sometimes it pays not to update.

Just got a reply from Vectric saying the selector has never been part of this toolpath. I pointed them to this thread proving that's obviously not the case.

I really hope this doesn't mean they won't fix it. It would save me tons of time if it were brought back.

Hi Beamer,

No it will get fixed, and you should see it in the next patch. It got lost when we added the Desktop versions of the products into the product range, and nobody had mentioned it until the other day!
