Orientation of a model/component

Post by SamPris »

Is it possible to change the orientation of text on a model with Aspire? Attached image has Indian spelled backwards how would I go to changing text?

I would think you could mirror the image. I've done that in VCPro.

I take it this is an attempt at the Indian Motorcycle logo? If the text is a separate entity from the Indian head then the mirror tool should work.

Select the menu option Help > Help Contents and search for more info on using the Mirror tool.

Used the mirror tool needed head to be right to left text wouldn't comply with the mirror. No text is not a separate component.

If all you have to work with is the image, then there's no easy way to do it, except editing the image, which is not a trivial task.

Make vectors for the word "Indian." Load original image into a paint program and airbrush out the word "Indian."
Load cleaned Indian image into Aspire and create component from bitmap. Flip "Indian" vectors and create Flat Profile Shape with enough height to clear the model.

Problem solved, creator resent file with both left and right models.

Thanks for the replies

I have sent a request into Vectric Support, but I think they are a little confused from the emails I'm getting, but if you import the model using the Y-Axis (wrap X values), in the Wrapped Job setup. it will come in mirrored. Importing it into the X-Axis comes in correct. Until they do fix it, try importing the model that way. Just because it's a wrapped job, doesn't mean you have to use it as a rotary project. Or you can always export it out again as a stl model, then import it again the usual way.

Never mind about my last post, That don't work unless you you unwrap it before creating the component. If you don't unwrap it will still be mirrored. If you tell it to unwrap it, the lettering won't be mirrored, but the model will be distorted.

I did try bitmap tracing for the text problem was the depth... as I mentioned above the seller thought he had sent correct file so he resent with correct contents. They are STL models not grayscale images.

Thank you all for the replies and info.
