I’ve grown accustomed to z zero at the bottom and positive travel of the z going up.
You can still do that with Machine Z zero at the top.
The only thing the machine coordinates really affect is the softlimits. You can still set your Z zero at the bottom, when Machine Z zero is at the top.

The screenset requires Machine Z zero at the top to prevent the Z axis from going too high.
