I am trying for a machine pocket cut that involves a 60 degree cutter for the sharp corners to the outline. However I need to find a way to optimise the quickest ways to clean out the pockets which are rather narrow, and was wondering what a few others may think.
There is a rather large amount to do, so if can reduce the times it would be wonderful.
I should say the file is attached.
Thanks
Tim

Tim,
There is no toolpath within your project. So we can hardly suggest how to improve them.
Post the project with the toolpath you're not satisfied with.

Dear Tim
Am I missing something? You must have tried the Flat Depth and Use Flat Area Clearance Tool! Or are you looking for something different?
Sincerely and in good faith

Re: small pocket with a v carve
Apologies if I haven't made myself clear. The job is to machine small pockets about 2mm deep into Oak, and I am just trying to find the quickest way … As there is sharp points the only way to get to them is to use a v cutter, and when it comes down to the pockets if I use a larger cutter it misses out areas....So my question is, is there a way to highlight the missed areas and to create another toolpath with a smaller cutter …...rather like a Relief drawing?

Look at "Rest Machining."is there a way to highlight the missed areas and to create another toolpath with a smaller cutter
Or try offsetting your vector inward a tad and V-carve between those two vectors. Then pocket inside your original vector. It will machine fast and you will get square corners at the surface, but you can't ever get square corners all the way down the full depth of the cut.

Re: small pocket with a v carve
Using the pocket toolpath, use your Vbit as the tool and the appropriate endmill as your larger area clearance tool. You might need to make sure advanced options are checked. The endmill will do everything it can and the Vbit will finish the areas that the endmill cannot get to.
