Looks like the clock is coming along very good. I built Brian's clock #25 a few mounts ago and really enjoyed the build. Want to do another but have a question. I want t use bearing but have no idea where to get them at a reasonable price. Where did you get yours. Thanks for the help and keep the photos coming. Love to see what others are doing.

JMD: I bought the gears via Amazon. They came from China so it took about a month for them to arrive. I am getting used to that delay since I have been getting quite a bit of new lathe tooling via Banggood. The bearings were very inexpensive. They were sold in quantities of 10 so I wound up buying 30 bearings for just under $30. I would estimate that I have about 18 left over. BTW. . . where are the pics of your clock? Have you been building them for a while? Inquiring minds want to know!
Martin: Yes, we converted over to metric in 1875. The only problem was that politicians were just as stupid then as they are now. The dolts had no clue what it would cost to actually convert an economy of our scale. Seriously, I was told when I was in the 8th grade that we would all be on metric within 10 years. Uh huh, guess they never considered that many things are durable goods and to abandon customers (repair parts) would lead to their certain defeat in any forthcoming election. So here we are, sort of halfway. We have made a lot of progress in those 55 years!

Of course we are converting to metric. My son came home one day, while in elementary school and said he needed something 1 cm long. I was excited to think that we were FINALLY going there.
He is nearly 40 now and has not used metric since.
Is it his fault - no.

Seriously, these are great long term projects. I have been doing other things in my shop while this clock is being built. Probably better that way since they can demand quite a bit of attention to detail. They are not something you want to get in the mode of "I'll just hurry up and get this done."
The last few days I did nothing with the clock. Doing some shop stuff with the lathe. I tooled it up with a QCTP, holders, tools, etc. It was getting really messy around the lathe so I built some stuff to keep things organized so I don't waste time trying to figure out where I put something. But today, I made the end caps for the weight and got them all fitted up to the aluminum tube.
