How to affect a tool change when machining a 3D model.

Post by rwebcon »

I have a model with several components in the tree. I want to 3d rough (using end mill) and finish part of the model and then change to a different tool to machine another component of the model.
Here is my component tree.

The “Copy of visible model” is one part and the two “flourish’s” need to be machined with a different tool.
I do not know if this is possible. Any suggestions.

You could use "Rest Machining" (view the Vectric video tutorial) or you can create separate vector boundaries for the models and assign different Finish tools.

Or...just use your smallest Finish tool for the whole thing. Takes longer, but no fuss no muss, and no risk of machining "halos" around models.
