edit text on a curve

Post by hqford »

Hi Guys,
New to aspire. I was wondering, once I place text on a curve, is there a way to edit the text and have it stay on the curve or do I have to again place the text on a curve after the edit.
Thanks for any help!

You have to re-place the text on the curve. It won't edit in place.

Thanks for the answer! Not the one I was hoping for but the one I suspected.

It can be converted to curves and then edited.

Unfortunately any editing of text will put it back to it's original orientation so it really depends what editing you want to do, converting to curves will stop this as Samson has mentioned which can help but is obviously dependant on what editing needs to be done.
At the user group meeting last year there was some talk of addressing text for a future version so hopefully it is something that will be addressed in the near future

Thank you for the reply Martin.
I have an item I designed that is personalized with name and message. I need to do multiples each with a different name and message that's why I was hoping I wouldn't have to re - place the text each time. Not to mention I've had a couple typos I had to correct!

To be honest I don't use the text tool within Aspire much at all, generally anything to do with text I do with my signmaking software & then export as EPS which works OK for me

I assume that you are not redrawing the curves each time, and are simply leaving them unselected for the toolpath. I think that would be the easiest way to do what you are doing. Save a copy of each version to a different layer so you have a record of what you have done.
