Quick Job: Smooth and Export a Model for me

Post by Mobius »

I have a .stl model that I created in other software, and finished it off by importing to V-Carve and applied the 'smoothing' feature to it.

This is already what I need to cut the file, but I would like to import the 'smoothed' file back to other software for concept rendering purposes.

Would anyone here with Aspire be willing to import my file, run the smoothing pass over it (twice), and then export it as a high count .stl and send it back to me?

Monetary compensation is on the table as well.

Workflow:
1. Import Model
2. Run the smoothing feature and set the slider as per the attached picture. Bake
3. Run the smoothing feature again, same slider position. Bake.
4. Export the model as a closed .stl with a flat back, and enough precision so the .stl matches what is on screen.

Model is approx 150mmx150mmx6.5mm

And clean the shop after. Virtual manufacturing is much cleaner :D

Nice rendering. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comments! The joinery was done flat on the CNC with Fingermaker software from tailmaker.net. It can generate some pretty wicked joinery patterns.

Thanks for the info.

I've had the link to tailmaker.net for a while just never tried it out.

Looking at the website I don't see the rounded dovetail joint you used. Can you specify different joint shapes to machine?

I used the 'Finger Maker' software, rather than the dovetail 'Tail Maker'. Take a look at the 'Box Joints' page on the site, it shows the rounded joints. I actually just hit the 'Random' button in the software until I saw a pattern I liked. But you can also create specific patterns by adjusting the settings.
