No doubt you could go on for hours about edgelits. Lots of good info here. Just have to search a bit.
Pay close attention to anything that has X-ray in the post. He has some stunning work and is not afraid to share his technique and settings.

Have a look at some of the R/C batteries for small electric helicopters etc, you may find something just the size you like

Thanks, I looked at R/C batteries, for about a minute, way too expensive for this project and I didn't find 12v. 11.1v and 14v, but no 12v.

Surprised anyone still remembers me as an edge lit guru, haven't posted anything in quite a while. Still make them, just nothing I haven't posted before or consider special.

Here are a few of my threads from the past, technical info still relevant, most of the links to sources, when people ask where to get LED's ect are very dated and probably no good anymore.
These any quite a few others contain a wealth of info from dozens of fine folks.

Probably the grand daddy of edge lit threads, really morphed into quite an informative monster

This one isn't lit at all but turned into a great thread about painted plexiglas [which in theory could be lit], good when you have a stock of plexi and want to try something new
