Chair Leg Help

Post by Wayne Locke »

I have fought this almost all day. Neither cussing at the screen or the dog seems to help. I am trying to model this leg which is a 2 Rail Sweep with3 profiles. Works great but then I want to scallop one side of the top for the rounded edge of the chair seat. I made a 2 Rail Sweep of the shape and have been unable to get a clean subtraction of that shape. I have cleaned the detritus hanging about with a remove component outside of vector But it seems no matter what I do I can't get a clean scallop.

Here is rendering and a Dropbox link.

Help!!

Thanks!

If you can't get the scallop to cut it is because is an undercut relative to the sides of the leg. I solve similar detail challenges of cutting the top joinery on legs by clamping them vertically or at whatever angle they need to be so I can approach the cut from the top. I use a compound angle clamping fixture attached to the front rail of my CNC.

There is no undercut.

Can't get the dropbox link to work. It takes me to my own dropbox.

One problem is that the toolpath on the "bottom" side labeled "Finish0.25Ball" is actually being cut with a .25" end mill

Thanks for that heads up. I have fixed that but the problem is still there. Here is a detail of the issue. I am getting ready to cut and will just clean it up by hand but it still befuddles me and I would like to figure it out.
