Tool offset issue

Post by TonyD »

Creating a simple rectangular groove "Y" distance 6.25", "X" distance 1.0" using a 0.25" end-mill bit.
Would expect the centers of the groove in the "Y" axis to be 6.0". However instead of +- 3.0 the G-code
has -2.97 and 3.03; the difference total is 6.0.

Checking the path with a laser (not cutting) confirms that the cut is offset in the plus "Y" by 0.03.

Why the offset?

Any help would be appreciated.

Tony

Simple question: Did you actually make sure the rectangle is 6.25 inches long X 1 inch wide?

You stated in your post that it was 1 inch wide, yet it says something very different in the heading of your code.
