Does Version 9 allow importing of AutoCAD 2018 dwg files or will they have to be backsaved?

Export from AutoCAD
The simple answer is to just save as Version 12 .dxf.
Version 12 strips out a lot of the stuff from newer versions that can cause problems, and it also converts splines into polylines (made up of straight segments).

I just tested it, and yes, it does.
But I always use v12 .dxf, as Gary relayed. :D

Does anyone know if the import of the dxf or dwg is the same as an import of an STL? STL is converted to bitmap height image.

I believe that this post is referring to 2D drawings.

for 3D, all 3D models are converted into a "pixel based height map" type model. That's the way Aspire works. It's not a 3D CAD program.
