etch glass using a evgraving bit
Re: etch glass using a evgraving bit
I haven't used an engraver, but have experimented with a diamond drag and it works great.
I think the key for using the engraver is making sure the plate is perfectly parallel to the x/y axis.
Or to ease that setup a spring loaded tool to manage that slight variation for something not quite flat like the 2L Inc spring loaded engraver.
For either be very careful with the glass powder to not get it airborne or blow it around as its quite fine and I imagine could be quite damaging to eyes and everything else.

I ordered a diamond drag bit Wens. and supposed to get it Tues. I'm going to try to etch as many different types of material as I can. Sounds like fun to me.

What type of glass are you looking to engrave as there are a number of different types. I have etched a few toughened glass panels for a Glazing Company who fit replacement windows, to be honest I have never been 100% happy with the results for various reasons but that maybe because I am being far to fussy. I say that because both the Window Company & their customers were always delighted with the finished product
