v-bit with clearance tool

Post by aroff »

Maybe a dumb question
But
When using the claranace tool option in the v-bit
can you use any tool (within reason)
like a ball nose

It seems you can select a ball nose. Just try it and run the simulation.

But using anything else than an end mill as a flat area clearance tool doesn't make sense for me.

Why would you use another type of tool?
Best regards

Can you use a ballnose as a clearance tool with a Vcarve toolpath? Yes

Would it be a good idea? Not really since it won't save much time over just letting the Vbit do all the work.
