For those planning on attending, and even those who can't make it..... could you please send in some pictures of your work.
I would like to put together a bit of some background video,,,just to keep things from getting boring...LOL
I think it would be a great benefit to all to see the vast array of talent there is out there.

Please send in your pics to mm@mezalick.com

Thanks for your participation in this event...

We are looking to see if we can put together a collection of small CNC machines at this Vectric gathering. We are not that familiar with many of these popular brands, so we are asking for a little help.

If your machine brand distributes Vectric software with its products, lobby them to send a machine with a tech that can do some tradeshow type demos. Especially nice if they can bring a rotary axis. The machine vendors will not be charged for the booth space, which is limited.

How about a collection of small CNC woodworking machines side by side? Anyone interested?

Yes Folks..Gary is correct...
We are looking for a nice showing of different CNC machine at Jim's camp.
We do have a few brave souls who are willing to show their machine to any and all that are interested.
So, If you are a manufacture or know of some machine that you would like to see, let us know.

Have you talked to Jay Johnson of J.Tech Photonics? Beki is doing something on hybrid / laser which seems to confirm what I heard at Las Vegas that 9.5 would include support for laser. As many know, Jay was at Las Vegas and did a presentation there.

Question for those who live in the area or have attended a few of these...... This being my first time, I'd like to know what is traffic like in the morning? Trying to decide which area to pick a hotel to stay at. While most of the hotels appear to be a fairly short distance, the suggested routes hint that traffic could be a consideration. So I thought I would ask. Which area is better to avoid a slow commute to Mcgrews ?

Thank you!

Good morning sir. As someone that has lived in the area all my life, traffic is congested during the morning and afternoon commutes with so many folks coming into town for work and going home. There are some hotels in the downtown area that would give you a pretty straight shot going to Jim's. They may be a little pricey. There are some along I-20 that would probably be a little more economical and not too bad on traffic. @2 that I looked up to give you an idea are:
Sleep Inn
1901 Rockland Rd.
Columbia, SC 800-508-7824

Comfort Inn
911 Bush River Rd,
Columbia, SC 803-798-5101

Both of these offer easy access to I-20, which takes you to North Main, straight to Jim's shop. 15 - 20 minutes tops.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much Barry, yes, downtown looked like a straight shot, but morning commute concerned me. Living in So Cal, I'm reminded everyday, how location and direction are wise to know. Thanks again!

You are welcome. I went to the last one and enjoyed it. 45 minutes from home. I'm not going to be able to attend this year.

While returning from a doctor visit with my son I passed a sign advertising a Super 8 motel. It is much closer to McGrew's.
Super 8
5719 Fairfield Rd.
Columbia, SC
844-205-9978
It is one exit away from the North Main exit, should be 15 minutes or less, even in the morning traffic.

Hope this helps someone.
